Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and a flock of celebrities are in Cannes this week for the city’s annual film festival.

By the way, did you hear Angie’s pregnant with twins?  Congrats Angie! 

You too can enjoy the sights, sounds and flavors of this city visited by A-listers!

Located on the French Riveira in Southern Europe, Cannes is the crossroads between the Alps, Provence, Monaco and Italy, so it’s a perfect place to stay if you plan on exploring other cities.

It’s one of the most popular tourist destinations and is full of all of the most glamorous options.  The Mediterranean weather is at its hottest from June to September and the busiest months are July and August, so plan accordingly depending on your preferences.

La Croisette is a favorite destination to visit.  The avenue is lined with palm trees, hip cafés, upscale shops and beautiful people.  This is a great place to people watch and, of course there’s a beautiful beach. 

The old town is called La Suquet and offers amazing views of the waterfront.  For those looking for a bit of history, take a short boat ride to the Îles de Lérins where The Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned.

At night I suggest hitting one of the city’s many casinos.   The most famous include Casino Croisette at the Palais des Festivals; Palm Beach Casino at Pointe de la Croisette; and Casino des Princes on boulevard de la Croisette.

One of the best things to do in Canne is shop.  The La Croisette and numerous streets heading north  and paralleling La Croissette is a good place to start. There is a shopping mall nearby and Gucci, Christian Lacroix and Ferrari to name a few stores.  The rues d’Antibes and Meynadier feature great shopping districts as well.
