The buzz from the Consumer Electronics Show was all about 3D.  3D Televisions, 3D Home Theaters, and 3D iPods… well no 3D iPods, at least not yet.  LG however took a best in show award for NOT jumping on the 3D bandwagon.  They instead improve upon the functions that are already generating sales in today’s marketplace.

Key features of the LG BD590:

• 250GB built-in hard drive, capable of storing music, photos, and videos transferred via USB
• Can rip CDs directly to the hard drive, with metadata automatically handled by Gracenote
• Online streaming media services include Netflix, Vudu, CinemaNow, YouTube, Pandora, Picasa, AccuWeather
• Purchased Vudu movies can be stored directly on the hard drive
• Built-in Wi-Fi
• DLNA-compliant, allowing you to stream music, photos, and videos from a connected PC
• No release date or pricing announced

Now, a 3D version of this might have generated more buzz, but it seems that CES and LG both agree that more consumers want products with these basic features, rather then 3D capability…  at least for 2010.
