TARACI’S RESTAURANT PICK OF THE DAY: BOBO

Sure.  You may have heard the buzz about Bobo.  

This new-ish eatery was opened this past September and is here to stay. 

Personally, it’s one of my favorite restaurants!

An abbreviation of Bourgeois Bohemian, a term first coined by David Brooks in the 2000 book Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class And How They Got There, Bobo offers a chic decor coupled with a comfortable environment.  Owned by Carlos Suarze, it is inspired by European dinner parties and is housed in a great 100 year old townhouse in the West Village.  

The restaurant consists of both a subterranean bar and second-floor dining room with fireplaces, a copper chef’s table, and antiques that Suarez sourced from the Hudson Valley.

Although the venue seats 100, the setting is intimate and personal. Adjoining the upstairs dining room is a beautiful garden with an antique daybed and lemon tree where you can smoke – a rarity in NYC

As for the food, it’s perfect for foodies.  Jared Stafford-Hill, formerly of Hearth, oversees the kitchen.  

In New York, he was most recently the executive sous-chef at Country, and from his experience he has created a Pan-European menu that leans heavily towards the South of France. 

So put on your most stylish outfit – the one that says both “creative” and “wealthy” and take your place in among the nouveau elegant class.
